(Special.) London, Jan. 8. Money is in less demand; rates are dropping. Market rate of discount, three months' bills, 5 per cent. The stock market is buoyant, Consols, 95£. The market for Colonial Government debentures is quiet. The South Australian loan was fully subscribed. The number of tenders lodged was 3.00, and the average price tendered £88 ss. Bank dividends generally are smaller than last year. The corn market shows a downward tendency. Adelaide wheat is neglected —selling according to quality, 39s to 50s; New Zealand, according to .quality 41s to 455. * Jan. 6. The Macedonian insurrection , has been crushed. The Turkish troops are said to have committed frightful atrocities .- Jan. 7. Mr Porster, at Bradford, made a severe attack on the foreign policy of the Government. He hoped the next general elections would condemn the' Imperialist policy, which-might lead to war throughout the world. . . Bombay, Jan. 9. General A. Roberts successfully - attacked and completely defeated the Afighans at Khost. They were massed in considerable numbers, and received severe losses. The casualties on the British side were slight.
