TROTTING RACE—A handicap of 1\ soys., for district horses ; twice across the beach ; no weight under lOst. Nomination, Os ; acceptance, 10s. 4. PONY RACE, fur boys' ponies under 14 hands. For whip and spurs presented by Mr Kissell. Entrance 10.5.. Post entry. Catch weights: 5. CONSOLATION STAKES — A handicap of 5 sots., for all beaten, horses at the meeting. Entrance, . 10s. Post entry. EULES. Races for District Horses, shall mean for all horses that have been for not less than three months prior to the meeting ■within the following prescribed boundary, viz.:—The head of Lyttelton Harbor to Gebbie's Flat, and owned by bona fide residents of that district. All races are the length of the beach, about three-quarters of a mile. Three horses to pay up for each race' or the stakes will be withheld. The second horse saves his stakes in all races, the ameunt to be deducted from the stakes. No entry will be received unless both owner and nominator be subscribers to the fund of not less than 20s. Jockeys will be taxed 2s 6d, to go to the fund. j All protests must be made in writing to the Secretary -within an hour after the race, accompanied by a deposit of 20s i which will be forfeited if the protest is considered frivolous, the decision of the Stewards to be final.
