Sir Stafford Northcote, in replying, deprecated any weakening of Lord Lytton's influence under existing circumstances. On Saturday, Koberts reached Shutar Geodune Pass. The Ameer's troops in Cabul are disr inclined to fight. Officials and notables at Gallabad have tendered their submission to the British. AUSTRALIA. * (renter's special to the press AGENCY,) Sydney, Dec. 13. Sir H. Robertson relinquished the task of forming an administration, owing to the hostility shown by four or five members of the Assembly yesternight, to the incoming Government, and their evident intention of obstructing the vote for the proposed exhibition until the time when the money would be useless for the object. He fears that delay would jeopardise the exhibition, the failure of which would result in national disgrace, and he feels the importance of forming a Government that ought not to tend towards this. Sir H. Robertson has also resigned his seat in Parliament, and retires from public life. Melbourne, Dee. 13. The Government has decided on offer_ ing £1000 for the capture of Edwar - Kelly, and £500 for that of the thrd others. The Australian Eleven in their first innings put together a total of 198. The Victorians had seven wickets down for 47 when stumps were drawn.
