AKAROA AND WAINUI ROAD BOARD.
Saturday, Nov. 23.
A meeting of this Board was held at the office, Duvauchelle's Bay, on the above date.
Present—Messrs Duxbury (Chairman), M'Donald, Shadbolt, and Curry.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.
MOUNT BOSSU,
Mr M'Kay was in attendance, and executed his deed of arbitration. The Clerk was instructod to write to the arbitrators on the matter.
CORRESPONDENCE,
Letters were read—
From J. Aylmer, Esq., R.M., offering on behalf of the Government £35 for the stable on reserve 83, on condition of the Board removing their office at once.
It wjls agreed to decline the offer, and to call for separate tenders for the buildings, to be removed within one month.
From Mr J. F. Eoberts, calling the attention of the Board to a payment reported to have been made to Mr Inman's agents for Bell's road in German Bay. As a protection to tlie ratepayers Mr Roberts thought no money should be paid on the road till the Board had a clear title to the
land
The Engineer laid on the table specifications for Bell's road, also for the lower part of the Mount Bossu road.
LONG BAY ROAD.
The Engineer reported on this road, and a letter was received from Mr Jules Lelievre, asking for £253 for the land of his required for the purpose, exclusive of fencing.
The Board considered the demand exor bitant, and resolved to construct the road on the Government line with the exception of sections 99U2 and 10,202, for which Mr Lelievre's offer would be accepted. The Engineer was instructed to make the necessary alterations in the specifications, and to include the fencing.
The Clerk was instructed to write to the County Council, stating that tenders had been called for the work, and asking on what terms they would hand over the special grant.
siora's road.
Mr Mora waited on the Board and applied to have an additional seven or eight chains of road, so that he could then make a passable road up to his house.
The Clerk was instructed to visit the spot and have the work done, Mr Mora promising to assist with labor.
OLD DUVAUCHELLE'S BAY ROAD,
A telegram was received frem the Under Secretary for Public Works, informing the Board that objections had been received against closing the above road, a copy of which would be forwarded to the Board.
A letter was received from the Pigeon Bay Road Board, agreeing to incur half the expense of widening the Summit road from the fingerpost to Haines', provided it was regraded and made twenty feet wide.
The Engineer was instructed to prepare specifications for the work, one copy to be forwarded to the Pigeon Bay Road Board.
LONG BAY AND QODGII'S BAY ROAD,
A petition was received from some settlers interested, asking that this road might be made.
The question had already been disposed of.
WAINUI SADDLE AND LAKE FORSYTH ROAD.
The Engineer's report on this road was read, and its consideration deferred till next meeting.
WAIKERAKIKARI AND GOOGH'S BAY ROAD,
The Engineer reported on this road, in which he recommended that a. road bo graded before survey, so as to insure its being reserved when the Surveyor goes on the road.
The Board agreed to authorize the Engineer to carry out the suggestion.
INSTRUMKNT^.
Mr Latter, on behalf of the Lakes Trust, wrote to the Board, offering a case of instruments at a reduction of 25 per cent of£ cash.
CONVEYANCES,
A letter was received from Mr AThomson, solicitor, enclosing conveyances) required in the Okain's road diversion.
