STOCK AND STATIONS.
Since our last report but little business has been done in consequence of the week's holiday, which have been devoted to racing and the exhibition of stock, implements, held under the anspices of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association. •
Advantage has been taken of the influx of visitors from the neighboring Provinces and from the North Island who are interested in pastoral pursuits to hold some important sales of high class stock with the most favorable results, and many who are returning take with them choice animals, both cattle, horses and sheep, of a high standard of breeding, which no doubt will be used to advantage.
At Addington, on Wednesday last, 3482 sheep, 269 head of cattle, and 26 pigs were yarded for the week's supply.
•Fat sheep were in short supply, the the bulk of those yarded not being firstclass, and notwithstanding the small number disposed of the previous week, there was but little competition, and many of the best lines had to be passed in unsold. Best mutton equal to 2d to 2|d.
Fat beef in fair supply. Top quality and some really prime cattle made equal to 40s ; inferior, 27s 6d to 30s. Store stock, both cattle and sheep, in but little demand, and dull o£ sale,_ the continued dry weather being prohibitive to any large transactions in these lines.
