ELECTION OF MEMBERS OF COUNCIL "XnrOTICE is herein' given, that under 1 \ tte provisions of " The Counties Act, 1876," and " The Loch I Elections Act, 1876," ELECTIONS will he held for the return oi ONE duly qualified I person to serve as Memher of the Council for each Riding in the said County as follows:— That the day of election is WEDNESDAY, November 13, and that the Nomination of Candidates will take place at noon on WEDNESDAY. November 6, at the undermentioned places :— Berard Riding , — Borough Council Office, Akaroa. J. F. Roberts, Returning Officer. Wainui Riding — School-house, Wainui. M. Smith, Returning Officer. Little River Riding—School-house, Little River. G. Westropp, Returning Officer. Tai Tapu—Library, Tai Tapu. A. I. McGregor, Returning Officer. Pigeon Bay—School-house, Pigeon Bay. F. W. TO THE ELECTOBS OF THE LITTLE RIVER RIDING. ENTLEMEN,T-Having boon re\JT quested by .a large number of influential Electors of the above Riding to offer myself as a Candidate at the forthcoming Election for the County Council, I hereby offer my services for the general good of the district, and the Peninsula generally. My views are that the Road Boards are the proper parties to spend the money, and that the County Council should not curb or interfere with their proper functions and liberties. GENTLEMEN,—I thank you sincerely for the honor you do me in asking me again to become your representative in the County Council, and I believe that wish is in accordance with the feelings of a majority of the electors of this Riding ; but I iind that under the present system of voting, a sufficient number " ov votes " has been secured by the Road Board to make the return of the Road Board member most probable.
