Government have commenced to act upon the recommendations in the report of the Committee which enquired into the charges made against the Wellington police, and which recommended periodical removal of Police Inspectors from one city to another. Inspector Atcheson was, in consequence, notified that he is to be sent to Nelson. His successor is not yet known. Market quotations—Flour, colonial, £11 to £11 10s ; hams, 9d ; bacon, 8d ; cheese, 7d ; potatoes, £4 ; butter, ls. These quotations are the same as last week with the exception of flour and bran. These lines have a downward tendency.
