CRICKET.
The return cricket match advertised to take place at Bobinson's Bay on Saturday last between the sides respectively captained by Messrs F. Barker and H. Bridge, resulted in fresh scratch teams having been chosen by the same captains, and in a very good game being played. We give the scores below, where it will be seen that the byes have the largest score, a fact which is due to the uneven nature of the ground, and not to bad fielding. We regret to say that in the course of the game Mr J. M. Wood severely sprained his ankle, and was incapacitated from taking part in the rest of the play. On the whole the play was very good, Mr Bridge's side being by far the better in the field, the batting powers of each team being pretty well on a par. The scores were as follows :— H. Bkidge's Side. SECOND INNINGS. Harlock, st Tosswill .' 5 Drury, not out j 8 Byas 3 Leg-byes 2 * Total 18 The unusual amount of interest taken as yet this year in cricket warrants the supposition that it will be better patronised than in former seasons, and it is most desirable that it should be so. The tact that Christchnrch threatens us with a' third eleven, should certainly stimulate tho latent energies of our local players.
