OKAIN'S BAY ROAD BOARD.

The object of the meeting was to take into consideration the question of the jetties at Okain's and Lc Bon's Bays ; also a resolution passed at the last meeting of the County Council re special grants. Present—Messrs J. B. Barker (Chairman), Boleya, Pawson, and Sefton. I Tho Chairman stated that tho object of : the meeting-waß merely to ■ re-consider Mr Thaeker's tender for the Okain's Bay jetty. The tender sent in by Mr Thacker stated that he would give £35 per annum, or he would lay down iron rails on the jetty, subject to the Board's approval, for two years' rent. It was decided at the last meeting of the Board to accept Mr Thacker's oit'er to lay down tho rails, which were to be not less than 301bs to tho yard. But it now appeared that Mr Thacker took exception to the matter. Mr Thaeker then rose, and said that lie had not any idea of backing out of his

bargain, but that there were certain "mares' nests" which the outside public thought not right.
