FROM THE LYTTELTON TIMES.

Christchurch, Friday Evening. The festivites attendant on the opening of the railway to Dunedin, and the absence of most of our business people at that centre, has materially tended to limit operations. Potatoes continue in much the same condition. Buyers are exceedingly cautious, and do not care about touching without orders. Potatoes are quoted nominally at 75s to Sss. Some few small export orders for first-class quality are being executed at 90s to 95s f.o.b. Flour.—We cannot report any better feeling in flour. Prices, if anything, are weaker. We quote £10 to £11. Grass Seed.—Rye grass, cocksfoot, and clover, of all kinds are the only items that have not been effected by the prevailing stagnation. Cocksfoot is only obtainable from second hands and is worth 7d Dairy Produce.—Butter, lOd ; cheese, s£d to 6d; hams and bacon, 7£d to Bd.
