STOCK AND STATIONS.
Since our last report tbe weather has again broken, a good deal of rain having fallen, which was much wanted in many of the dry districts throughout the Province. At the Metropolitan sale-yards on Wednesday, 4711 sheep, 234 head of cattle, and 44 pigs were submitted. Sheep.—Owing to the small _ number yarded, the competition was brisk, and prices] ranged fully ls per head in advance of last week's prices. We quote 2£d per lb. as an average for best quality mutton. Beef.—The supply was not large, but some good quality lots came forward. We quote from 35s to 37s 6d per lOOlbs as an average. The land sales to-day amounted to 8243 acres, as follows: —Selwyn, 2573 ; Ashburton, 3093; Geraldine, 300; Ashley, 1511 ; Akaroa, 11 ; Waimate, 755 ; realisine £16,486. The land sales on Monday amounted to 4696 acres 34 perches as follows :-Selwyn, 529 acres ; Ashley, 1241 acres 34 perches ; Ashburton, 1266 ; Akaroa, 220 ; Geraldine, 1440; realisihg, £9392 8s 6d.
