Fat cattle prices are slower than last -week. At the opening best quality fetched 37s 6d per lOOlbs ; at the close the prices fell to 345. Fat sheep are ■unusually numerous. 1200 were sold. 'iPrices improved as the sale proceeded, and an advance of nearfya half-penny was obtained over those sold earlier. Prices for .ewes, 2{d to 2£d ; lambs. 4d ; pigs were: in limited numbers, and of indifferent quality.
Messrs K. Wilkin and Co. report:— "Wool —Only a few bags sold ; greasy, from 4d to B|d per lb ; washed lOid per lb.--SHEEPSKiNS.~The number on our catalogue to day was 4972, and with the exception of 183, all were sold. There was a full attendance of buyers, but the bidding was rather dull. The prices are as follows :—Botchers' crossbred, large, fullwoolled, 6s fid to 7s each ; do do, medium, three-fourths to full-woolled, 6s to 6s 6d •each : do do do, two-thirds to three fourths, woolled, 5s 4d to 6s each ; do do do, half to two-thirds woolled, 4s 7d to 5s 4deach; do do, small and inferior, 2s 2d to 4s 6d •each ; do Merino, large,, full-woolled 5s 7d ±o 6s 2d each ; do do, two-thirds to threefourths woolled, 4s lid each to 5s 7d
each; do do, half to two-thirds woolled, 3s 10d to 4s lid each ;do do, small and inferior, 2s to 3s 10d each. Country skins, cross-bred, 3s to Gs 2d each ; do do, merino, :2s 4d to 4s 3d each. Pelts, large, well-woolled, Is 3d to 2s each; do, small and inferior 2d to Is 3d each.—Tallow .:_ lUarge number of bags of butchers' rough fat, and some casks of tallow were catalogued »-.to-day and all sold, There, was a ; f ull of the trade, and the bidding • was even throughout. Best clean, well saved, 2fd to 3d per lb; second quality, 2d to 2f d per lb ; -'inferior and heated, 2d per lb ; tallow in casks, first quality, 29s per cwt; do, second -quality, 23s v>er cwt, burnt and badlj' saved, 21s Gd per cwt. Hides.:—The average number of hides was catalogued to-day, and all sold. There was a poor attendance of buyers, and the' following are the prices ■: —Lot 1, last week's salted, 4£d per lb.; lot 2, special line, salted, 4fd per lb ; lot 3, butchers' salted, 4£d per lb ; fresli hides, 3£d per lb.;' horse hides, 6s each ; calfskins, 5d per lb ; do, cut and damaged, half-price.
