CORN EXCHANGE REPORT.
The f oilowing is the report for the week ending Friday evening, July 12 :— Geass Seed. —There is an increased demand for first class rye grass seed ; a ready market would be found for good parcels at 6s per bushel Medium is freely taken at 4s 6d to 5s 3d per bushel. Cocksfoot is more inquired for, and is is saleable at 7d per lb. Potatoes.—The supply coming forward is almost nil, with an increased demand both from the New Zealand and intercolonial import ports. Several large lines have changed hands during the week at very extreme rates, for intercolonial ports, which has almost cleared out the holders. The farmers are withholding from selling, or even quoting a price. £3 per ton at the out-stations is freely offered, without leading to business.
Cheese and Butter.—rThere is a good business doing in both cheese and butter. There are inquiries tor first-class potted butter at 10d per lb. Cheese meets with a ready sale at s£d to 6d per lb.
