STEVENSON'S BRIDGE, HEAD OF THE BAY.
To the Editor of the Aharoa Mail
I Sir, —Referring to your issue of, Friday dast, stating that Messrs Reid and Bassett had heard that J. Thdmas, the contractor ff or the above bridge, had given up the .'contract, and that they (Beid and Basset) ■had offered to complete the same for the ■same • price, allow us to contradict this statement, and we beg to state that our tender was £98, but it was rendered informal by our omission to place our signatures on. The tender thereby became null and void. But Thomas being the lowest and accepted tender, and failing to carry •out his contract, we did offer* to complete •the same at the came money formerly tendered by us, namely, £98. Yours, &c, KEID & BASSETT, Contractors. 1 July 4.
