HEALTH PRECAUTIONS.
To the Editor of the Akaroa Mail.
Sir, —Kindly allow me space to make a few remarks on a matter of local interest. The Board of Health has with praiseworthy alacrity, taken steps to arrest the spread of Jan epidemic that has swept off hundreds of the little ones in many of our towns. The Board has ordered a system of disinfection to be adopted in all houses within the Borough, which is. I have no doubt, a very wise precautionary measure. To secure the health of our township, however, it will be necessary to strike more fully at the root of the evil. I do not wish to spoil the breakfasts of any of our worthy burgesses, but I should like to' know if those who depend for their supply of -water upon the creeks of Akaroa, have, any idea what they are drinking.?
Let the Board of Health instruct their officer to inspect some of the houses situated on • the banks of our creeks and he, perhaps, will be able to tell them. Yours, &c, B.
