GOOD MUSIC.

To the Editor of the Akaroa Mail.

Sir, —As one who was present at the Good Templars' entertainment, I should like to give expression to the real pleasure I experienced iii listening to the high class of music introduced, and to which I hardly think your report did full justice. That grand and beautiful overture to Balfe's " Bohemian Girl," played by Miss Connell and Master L. Watkins, was, in my humble opinion, Tendered in a most masterly style, and with great brilliancy of touch. Master L. Watkins also shewed a thorough knowledge of hie part. The duet from «'Martha," played by Mrs Wood and Mrs Anderson was performed with great taste and spirit. lam only sorry that this style of music (the tone being calculated to raise the taste of the public) ia not more generally appreciated. •■ As to the vocal part of the entertainment, which I also thoroughly enjoyed, I refrain from expressing an opinion, as I do not consider myself a competent judge, not possessing :any knowlede of singing. > In conclusion, I must say that I think the public owe some thanks to our friends, the Good Templars, for the trouble they have taken to get up this musical treat, •which I sincerely hope will not be the last by a good many.—Yours, &c, A LOVER OF MUSIC.
