STOCK AND STATIONS.

During the week nothing special has transpired to report. There have been a few enquiries for station properties, but nothing to lead to business. The forthcoming sales of the Sherwood and Arowhenua estates are looked forward to •with considerable interest both by property holders and speculators, as from the magnitude of both properties they will to -A certain extent fix the values of surrounding freeholds. At Addington on Monday last the whole >of the Ahuriri stock, consisting of 3721 sheep, 39 horses, and 695 head of cattle,, passed the hammer—the sheep averaging 5s per head, horses 16gs, and cattle £6 3o per head, prices satisfactory to the vendor.

On Wednesday last, at Addington, 5380 sheep, 184 head of cattle, and 68 pigs were yarded. '■ Fat Sheep.—Though the sales opened with little spirit prices improved, and closed firm with a slight improvement on last week's rates, best butchers' sheep making equal to 2d ; boiling, from Id to ljd. Beef. —A very short supply of only medium quality was brought forward, consequently there waß a brisk competition for the best yarded, which made from :27« 6d to 30s, a rise that will scarcely be maintained next week.
