ORIGINAL CORRESPONDENCE.
[We are at all times ready to give expression to every shade of opinion, but in no case do we hold ourselves responsible for the sentiments of our THE VAGARIES OF A SCIOPTICON.
To the Editor of the Akaroa Mail. Sir, —Oh Wednesday evening, May 8, a large portion of the inhabitants of Le Bon's Bay assembled at the schoolroom, being under the impression that Mr Wiggins was going to exhibit his magic lantern, as notice to that effect had been posted in different parts of the bay ; but, much to the disappointment of all, he never made his appearance. I think that Mr Wiggins might at least have sent due notice that he was not able to appear, and thus have saved people the inconvenience •of walking two or three miles for nothing. Yours, &c, GEORGE CROTTY. Le Bon's Bay, May 8. [With reference to the above, we have been informed that the announcement in question Avas made without Mr Wiggins' knowledge; if so v * the explanation sought by our, correspondent should come from those who issued the notice.—Ed. A. M.]
