STOCK AND STATIONS.
The only break in the drought for weeks past has been a few hours soft steady rain during Tuesday last, which has been of great benefit both to the pastoral and agricultural interest. We have advices that towards the South rain fell more plentifully than in the districts immediately surrounding Christchurch, and in some parts they have sufficient for all requirements. At Addington, on Wednesday last, 4883 sheep, 214 head of cattle, and 141 pigs were entered for the week. Fat Sheep remained at about level prices with last week's quotations, with very dull competition and rather a downward tendency, which caused somo lines to he passed in. \ Sheep for boiling, made from Id to l|d; butchers' mutton from lid to l|d. Beef.—A fair supply yarded, including some very prime quality, which made from 25s to 26s ; medium from 22s to 235. Stoke Stock.—Both sheep and cattle are very difficult to move, and as the turnip crops generally are not equal to expectations, no improvement can be •looked for in these lines.
