OKAIN'S ROAD BOARD ELECTION.

To the Editor of the Akaroa Mail.

Sir, —When people get the privilege of ventilating their grievances, whether real or imaginary, in your columns, they should endeavour if possible to state facts. I refer to Mr Patrick Callaghan's letter which appears in your issue of Friday last, and which letter, I say, is not true, but the contrary, and is got up in that compound. of Jesuitry and blarney in which many of the " Exiles of Erin " are apt to indulge.

As objection was taken and laid before the Road Board to Mr Cailaghan's election by one of his own supporters, therefore the Board have nothing to say in the matter, as the objection is to be heard and decided upon by the Resident Magistrate next week, and I think Mr Callaghan should have waited until he heard that decision before bringing forward assertions which he knows to be false, and which I did not intend to take the least notice of until I heard a remark made in the Magistrate's Court yesterday by one of his friends and supporters. Pending the result of the enquiry by the Resident Magistrate on the 16th inst., and apologising for troubling you, I am Sir, Yours, &c D. WRIGHT. Okain's Bay, April 10.
