The Wakatipu arrived from Sydney, Invercargill, March 7.

Cecil Jackson, late surgeon of the Hospital, appeared on remand to-day, to hear the decision of the Court. He was committed to take his trial on a charge of procuring abortion. Bail was accepted in four sureties, each of £250; himself £500.

Deputation waited on Sir George Grey from the Bluff Harbour Board, about Sir John Coode. Sir G. Grey said that Sir John Coode had been engaged for a lump sum by the Australian Governments, and if New Zealand desired to benefit by his advice, it would have to pay pro rata. He thought that the cost to this Colony would not exceed £1500, or about £300.each, for the harbours to be inspected; and also thought it should be made a colonial question. - In that case the Assembly would pass the amount; but if not, the Harbour Boards would be responsible.

Dunedin, March 7. The Hon. J. Macandrew and Captain Fraser arrived overland last night.

Sir George Grey arrives to-morrow afternoon.

At a private meeting held relative to the reception to be given to Sir G. Grey and party, amongst the proposals agreed to is, that a public meeting shall be held at the theatre to-morrow, at which the Premier gives an address. A banquet has been arranged for Saturday night. The Times denies that Sir George Grey received a cool reception at Invercargill.
