Akaroa, Feb. 18
Mr C. W. Bridge reports that at his sale of stock, held at the Head of the Bay, Akaroa, on the 14th instant, there was a fair attendance of dealers and general purchasers. 176 head of cattle were yarded, of which 113 were sold at satisfactory rates, Superior milch cows realized from £8 to £10 2s 6d; medium cows, from £6 10s to £7 ; inferior, £5 ; yearling heifers, £4 10s ; calves, good, £2 12s 6d, inferior, £2 2s 6d ; prime fat cattle averaged about 25s per lOOlbs. On the whole bidding was brisk. FROM THE LYTTELTON TIMES. Christchurch, Friday Evening. GRAIN AND PRODUCE. Grass Seed.—The price asked for cocksfoot by growers here not meeting with buyers' ideas of value, large orders that would have been executed in this market have been fulfilled elsewhere. Flour is now quoted at £1110s to £13, but concessions would be made for delivery later on. Potatoes.—There is an active inquiry for potatoes for shipment at once, at 45s tc 50s. Dairy Produce. —The market is not over supplied, and 8d to B£d can begot for good lots. Hams and bacon present no change.
