THE RUSSO-TURKISH WAR

Lonbon, Feb. 13. Active military and naval preparations are being made. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, in reply to a question, said he hoped to announce on Thursday that the British Ironclad Squadron has arrived at Constantinople. Several Austrian ironclads are starting for the Levant. The Channel squadron is ordered to rendezvous at Gibralter as a port of call. The Assam arrived at Galle on Feb. 12. Evening. The Turkish Government notified its protest against the entry of the British squadron into the Dardenelles. The opening of the Colonial wool sales ivas postponed to Feb. 26. Feb. 14. The Anti-Russian feeling in Rou■mania is increasing. Every able-bodied man preparing to mobilise. There are reported massacres of •Christians in Bessarabia and Crete, The Greeks are intensely indignant. There are numerous foreign deputations arriving at Rome for the Pope's funeral. The fleet entered yesterday, despite the protest of Turkey. Turkey is now more Russian than English.
