They were leaning on the garden gate. It was one of those moments in which conversation was suspended, and " love looked love to eyes which spoke again." But all didn't go " merry as a marriage bell "by a jugful. Just as he had advanced his lips to hevs (of course iv the darkness he thought it was her ear), and was about to whisper something peculiarly confidential there was a crash, and ,tbe gate came down. She tells her friends her toothache is the result of cold, and will soon pass off.
