Tuesday, Feb. 12,
(Before his Worship the Mayor, and G. H. Saxton, Esq., J.P.) NON-REGISTRATION OF BIRTH. T. Mcintosh was charged with the above offence, but, it being stated by the Registrar that the blame did not lay with the defendant, the smallest penalty was inflicted, namely, 10s and costs. Civil Cases. J. Porter v. Hammond.—Mr Nalder appeared for the plaintiff. Claim, £33. Judgment given by consent for amount claimed, with costs. Acheson and Ragosin v. Kuster.-—This was a case in which the plaintiffs claimed so many days wages for grass-seed cutting for the defendant. The defence was, that the defendant had hired them to work until the completion of his contract, and that, as they had left before the end of the grass-seed season, they were not entitled to wages. Judgment given for plaintiffs, with costs. The Court then adjourned.
