Wellington, Feb. 11. It is expected that Sir G. Grey will address the Wellington electors on Thursday next. The Hon. Mr Larnach is going home very shortly in connection with floating the last new loan. He takes his wife and family with him, and it is reported that after the loan negotiations are completed, he will succeed Sir Julius Vogel as AgentGeneral. The steamer Wakatipu brought down nearlj 7 200 Chinamen, who arrived at Sydney from Hong Kong a fortnight ago. They are engaged to work in the Otago gold-fields by a speculative Chinaman, who is to allow them a per centage of profits. A supplement to the " Government Gazette" notifies that the Consolidated Stock Act conies into operation after the 9th of February. The Governor, Lady Norman by, and suite leave for Auckland at eleven o'clock to-night, in the Hinemoa. It is expected their stay will last to the beginning of April. Arrived—H. M. gunboat Conflict, from Sydney, will stay here about ten days, and then proceed to Auckland. Dunedin, Feb. 11. TheKev. C. Clarke is dra.ving immense audiences. Last night lie preached in the John Knox Church in aid of the benevolent institutions. There were two thousand people in the church, and one thousand outside, the collection being over eighty pounds. Wilkinson, member of J.L. Hall's Dramatic Company, was accidentally shot in the eye by Mr Sothern, the comedian, while playing in '* Our American Cousin." It is doubtful whether he will lose his sight.
