LAKES ELLESMERE AND FORSYTH RECLAMATION AND AKAROA RAILWAY TRUST.
A meeting of the Ellesmere and Forsyth Reclamation' and Akaroa -Railway Trust was held at the Beach Arms Hotel, Lake Ellesniere, on Monday last. ' . < Present—Messrs Latter, Marshall, Murray, and Parkinson. On the motion of Mr Murray, seconded by Mr -Marshall, Mr Latter was unanimously re-elected chairman, and a cordial vote of' thanks accorded to him for his past services, which, from various circumstances, bad been mere arduous than had been anticipated, Mr Latter, in reply, thanked the members for their confidence, and for the support he had so freely received in the past. He trusted that the same unanimity would be continued in the future, and that they would reap the benefit in the successful termination of the work they were now engaged upon. The Chairman reported that certain actions had been commenced against the Trust, for liabilities incurred by the late engineer without authority, and by the advice of their solicitors tliey were being defended. Mr Marshall stated that Mr Hardy Johnston had taken over a considerable portion of the instruments, &c, belonging to the Trust, and the remainder he (Mr Marshall) had removed to his own place. A cheque for £9 Bs, being the amount which he had paid to Jacob Rotbery for rent, was handed to Mr Marshall, with the thanks of the Trust for the trouble he had taken. He was also authorised to settle with M'Allister. The attendance being small, several matters of finance were left over until the next meeting, which was fixed for Tuesday, sth February, at the s-irae place, at noon.
