The neighbouring bush looks as if cut down by hand. Twohouses were burnt down and two blown over. Lowe's Railway Hotel narrowly escaped, and all the furniture had to be removed. Heavy rain commenced tofall. Crops still standing, but much damaged, especially oats. No gale equal in severity, has ever beea felt here before. Casterton fared as bad as Masterton.
