AKAROA CRICKETERS.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE AKAROA MAIL. Sir, —Will you kindly allow me a small space in your columns for the purpose of drawing attention to the manner in which the Akaroa Cricketers has treated us of Little ?Akaloa. We sent a friendly invitation to the players of Akaroa, to come over here, and play a game against us on the 28th ult., this invite was accepted on behalf of his club by Mr W. J. Hughes, whose letter I enclose. We made every preparation to fittingly receive our visitors ; engaged Mr Thos. Pawson to cater, had the requisite viands and other things ready, but no visitors came. We consider we have been badly treated, and the inhabitants of the bay disappointed, we are some pounds out of pocket as we have to pay Mr Pawson for his trouble and outlay. Surely Mr Hughes might have had the courtesy to write and say his team could not come, which act on his part would have saved us unnecessary expenditure. Yours &c, A KNIGHT OF THE WILLOW.
