AKAROA AND WAINUI RACES.

A meeting was held at the Somerset Hotel, Head of the Bay, on Saturday evening, 24th instant, for the purpose of forming a committee and appointing stewards for the forthcoming Annual Races, to be held at the Head of the Bay, on Boxing-day. Mr Shad bolt was voted to the chair. A strong working committee was then appointed, and the following gentleman were elected stewards, viz .;— Messrs Birdling sen., Shadbolt, Piper, Lee, Beecher, Scarbrough, and Duxbury.

The next meeting will take place at the Somerset Hotel, on Saturday evening next, at 7 o'clock, when a programme of races will be drawn up, and duly advertised in the Ajjaroa Mail.
