We are sorry to have to record the ■ demise of Mr Thomas Warner, of Wainui, the obituary notice of whose unexpected death, at Christchurch, appears in another place. The deceased gentleman has been a resident of Akaroa for some years, and by his sterling-honesty, upright conduct, and straightforward manner, had deservedly commanded the respect and esteem of his neighbours, as well as all those with whom he had business and other relations. Mr Warner was a native of Ewelme, Oxfordshire, England, at whioh place he has numerous relatives and friends. Mr Warner had been in indifferent health during the past three years, and had left home, we believe, for . the purpose of trying the recuperative powers of the hot springs at Hanmer Plains, which he was fated not to reach. The deceased leaves a widow and a family of seven children, the youngest being but nine months old, with whose bereavement we most sincerely sympathise.
