THE VESTRY REPORT.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE AKAROA MAIL,

Sir, —In the report of the last vestry meeting appears the peculiar expression " unsatisfactory," in reference to the state of the accounts as left by the late Churchwarden. The word " unsatisfactory" is generally understood—when used in reference to accounts—to moan that there is something wrong, perhaps a deficit or embezzlement of some sort. No one could understand it to mean otherwise. Anyhow. I do not like the look of the word, referring, as it does, to myself, and I have now most respectfully to request the Chairman vf the late vestry meeting, for an explanation. I presume these vestry reports have to pass through the chairman's hands before publication. If this is not so, the sooner it is made a rule the better. An educated man would have detected the mis-application of the term complained of.—Yours. &c. LAI'E CHURCH WARDEN.
