(SPECIAL TELEGRAM TO THE WELLINGTON ARGUS.)
Bombay, September 10
A telegram has just been published, stating that the Servians have entered Bulgaria.
The fighting at Plevna, which has been going on for a week, still continues. It is mostly confined to'artillery. The campaign in Asia is virtually at an end. General Loris Melikoff is at Alexandropol, and no further hostilities will be possible before winter closes in, and precludes fighting.
(SPECIAL TELEGRAM TO THE DUNEDIN STAR) London, Tuesday evening (late). Plevna has fallen.
The Russians, after an unequalled artillery engagement, closed in upon the Turks, and utterly defeated the forces under Osman Pasha.
The Turks were utterly routed, many thousauds being taken prisoners. This defeat will have a fearful effect upon the Turkish cause.
