Thomas Brooks applied on bis own behalf for a hotel licence for the Somerset Hotel, Head of the Bay. Serjeant Ramsay's report being satisfactory, the license was granted. George Wascoe applied on his own behalf for a hotel license for "he Beach Arms, Lake EHesmere. The police stated that on the last inspection the house was well furnished, with the exception of two of the bedrooms, and very clean. Mr Wascoe said the two rooms mentioned were now being furnished. The license was granted. J. B. Barker applied in his own name for a hotel license in Little River. _ Mr Joblin appeared in support of a petition which had been lodged against the application. The Bench declined to grant the license as they did not consider the applicant a fit person to have charge of a hotel license.
J. E. Thacker appliad through Mr Inwood, for a hotel license in Okain's Bay. Mr In wood explained 'that the house was not yet erected, but the plans were before the Bench. He was aware that a petition had been lodged against the application, but he begged to present another in favour of it. Mr Thacker would be glad of an opinion from the Bench as to the desirability or not for a license of this kind in Okains.
