T ALEXANDER INNES JL, McGREGOR, Returning Officer for the Borough of Akaroa, hereby give notice, that in conformity with the provisions of " The Municipal Corporation Act 1876," and ''The Regulation of Local Elections Act 1876," the first Annual Election of Councillors under j the above first recited Act, will be held at the offices of the Akaroa Borough Council, on THURSDAY, the 13th day of SEPTEMBER next, for the purpose of Electing NINE Councillors in the place of George Scarbrough, Henry Wagstaff, William Pcnlington, William F. Bruce, James S. Annand, Henry G. Watkins, Jacob C. Waeckerle, Thomas B. Chadwick, and John Cullen, who retire in conformity with the terms of clause G7 of the above first recited Act. TO THE BURGESSES OF AKAROA. /~1 ENTLEMEN,—On a former ocVX casion you did me the honour of returning me as one of your representatives to the Borough Council, but, unfortunately, circumstances compelled me to withdraw from that body. I intend, however, to again offer myself for the office of Borough Councillor, and hope you will accord me the same liberal support as you did previously. Should you do me the honour of returning me, I will endeavour, as far as I can, to further the interests of the Borough, and generally attend to the economical expenditure of its finances.
