PETTY THIEVING.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE AKAROA MAIL.

Sir:—Kindly allow me through the .medium of your columns to espose the following disgraceful act of petty theft, with the hope that it may be a warning to others. During my absence in Christchurch last weak, the rooms which I rent in Akaroa were entered, and a quantity of feathers stolen from out of the ticking of the mattress, reducing it to half its original size and weight. I shall be only too glad to give the remainder of the feathers to .the person, or persons, who have already helped themselves, if they will be good enouglit to call for them.—Yours, &c, MARY BROUGH. August 27, 1877..
