IN anticipation of an early opening of the Spring trade, we are induced to offer the balance of our Autumn and Winter Stock one month earlier than usual. - • In making this intimation, we have again the pleasure of announcing that the goods are all quite new and fresh, being part contents of 325 CASES AND BALES Imported by us for this half-year's trade. Our system of selling the balance of each season's stock enables us to guarantee that our customers will only, be offered goods oH the latest styles, and quite perfect. It is well known that ..on the like previous occasions we have not sought profit, and we take this opportu- : nity of assuring our friends that ,we shall follow our usual business policy, and clear goods at a loss rather than hold to another season. Customers will, in many instances, have an opportunity of purchasing Articles of; the Highest Fashion and Utility, Cheaper than they could be obtained in London. In regard to the Stock generally, we have confidence in saying of every de partment that our resident London buyer has been particularly successful in selecting most suitable Goods, and we would add that, in regard to value, they fare second to none, as all were contracted for before the advance in price of a few months ago. We are thus enabled to offer-by far the Cheapest and Largest Stock ever shown in Dunstable House. Notwithstanding that this is the ease, we shall, as usual, give ONE SHILLING OFF EVERY POUND PURCHASED FOR CASH A Catalogue, of Sale is now ready, in which we enumerate a few of the reductions we have made. All our Goods are marked in Plain Figures ; the reduced prices will be in Red Ink. Buyers may easily satisfy themselves of the genuineness of the reductions. J. BALLANTYNE & CO., Dunstable House, Cashel-street, Christchurch. And at No. 2, Gresham Buildings, ; , Basinghall-street, London. July, 1877. ENCOURAGE LOCAL INDUSTRY. XT Of OPE N—NEW ZEAJJN LAND CLOTHING FACTORY'S RETAIL BRANCHES— Christchurch, Timaru, Oamaru, Dunedin, and Wellington. MEN'S, YOUTHS'and BOYS' CLOTHING Superior in" Style to Imported Goods. A Single Garment at Wholesabe Price. GEORGE KELLY, . * Manager, Christchurch Branch. Opposite Cobb's Office, Christcbincb. Our New Zealand Industries. —Messrs Hallenstein Bros, Manufacturers and Wholesale Warehousemen, of the New Zealand Clothing Factory, following the example of some of the large manufacturers at home and more especialy with a view of preventing the' importation of English clothing, are opening, extensive retail establishments in tbe large centres of population. For this purpose they have lately fitted up commodious premises opposite Cobb's office, Cashel street, where the sale of then* manufactures is now thrown open direct to tbe public of Christchui-eh.. .Thisbranch will be under tbe immediate management of Mr; George Kelly, and under the personal supervision of Mr. B. Hallenstein, the head of the New Zealand firm. Messrs Hallenstein Bros under the management :of. Mr. Anderson started the New. Zealand Clothing Factory about three years ago. They co; nmenced on a comparatively small scale, v but at present they employ between 300 and 400' people They had to overcome many difficulties', and much prejudice, and especially the persistent opposition : on the part of the larger houses glutting -this, market with imported goods, and no doubt the retailers found it to their .advantage to push these in preference to local manufactures. The proprietors of the New Zealand Clothing Factory have therefore judiciously decided to introduce their manufactures direct to thelarge consuming population of New Zealand, and in order to do so effectually, they have determined to sell a single garment at the wholesale price. The selling price is to be conducted strictly on cash principle, and all goods must be paid for on delivery, but any article no l- iourid suitable may be exchanged, or t_. money returned. As will be seen seen from thegarmentsexhibited the public will now be able to choose from the largest stock of men's, youth's, and boys'clothing, superior in style and quality, and at a proportionately lower price to , anything that can be imported. But, irrespective of all these advantages, it is to the interest of everyone to support an industry which employs New Zealand labour, and is a direct benefit to the but cher, baker, farmer, mechanic, shopkeeper, jiarcjliant, and to everyone in the com .ucmity.—Advt.
