POLITICAL TELEGRAMS.
[From our Special Correspondent.]
Wellington, Aug. 2.—8 p,m
Nothing in the way of organising the Opposition has taken place. The proposal made by the • Treasurer to see to part of the Canterbury Land Fund, was received in the House' with laughtei and cheers, some A derisive, some applauding. The Charitable Institution Bill was ■carried by a large majority, in consequence of the explanation of the Attorney General, that the Institution would be* carried on as now; if the public would not subscribe. This would apply to Institutions, in Canterbury, and elsewhere, which were supported hitherto by the State. It was felt' that the Ministry had changed front.
