A fire broke out at Tuballs' general store last night. The store was entirely destroyed, with two private houses adMi joining. The fire was prevented spreading to the adjacent buildings by the exertions of the inhabitants. Several ex-members of the Greymouth * and. Hokitika Fire Brigades rendered valuaable assistance. There is no local Brigade.- Tuballs is. the sole sufferer, his loss being estimated at over £2000. He was insured in the South British for £2250. Dunedin, May 8. A rule nisi for a new trial has been granted in the case of Russell v. Smythies on the ground of misdirection by the judge.
