PIGEON BAY ROAD BOARD.

Present —Messrs. Gillespie, (Chairman), Hay, Pitcaithly, Marshall, and McKay. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed.

Correspondence was read from Colonial Secretary, asking if the Board had any suggestion to make for the information and guidance of the Government in framing a general Road Board law. Mr. Pitcaithly moved—That the clerk write, asking that power over the jetty and beach be given to the Board. Mr. Marshall moved —That Mr. Latter be requested to hand over the vote of £1,000 to the Board for the Pigeon Bay and Port Levy road ; also that Messrs. Gunning and Co., in lieu of blinding the main road, do fill in ruts and break all large stones. It was decided that the Chairman should measure all metal stacked, and pay at the rate of 75 per cent. In answer to a question by the Board, Mr. Hay stated that the price of the proprosed road to Kay's Gully, consisting of nearly three acres, would be £300 with the old road given in. Mr. Marshall moved—That as the price could not be agreed upon, it should be settled by arbitration. The clerk was instructed to write to Mr. Rolleston, asking if the Government could survey the road from Pigeon Bay to Port Levy.
