PROM THE LYTTELTON TIMES. Christchurch, Thursday Evening. GRAIN AND PRODUCE. Although very little activity has prevailed in the grain market in the shape of deliveries, good progress has been made with harvesting, and farmers generally have taken advantage of the week's fine weather to secure their crops. In wheat, the transactions have been principally confined to millers who have, in some cases, offered an advance on exporters' limits to induce early delivery. A line of 4000 bushels delivered at an upcountry station has changed haifds at 4s 3d for forward delivery, arid higher prices have been paid for prompt delivery at Christchurch. Oats for delivery a month hence have been sold at 2s for good milling, and Is lOd for light and discoloured samples. Transactions, however, up to the present have not been of a very extensive nature. Barley of Al quality is being inquired for by maltsters who offer 4s for choice lots. Discoloured samples are difficult to place at anything over 2s 6d to 3s according to quality. Dairy produce is in good supply, and has an easier tendency. The.flour market continues dull at £14 in sacks. Bran, £3 ss; sharp, £4 ss. Business chiefly of a retail nature. Buyers'quotations at Christchurch station are: _ Wheat, 4s to 4s 6d; oats, 2s; barley, 2s 9dto 4s; grass seed, 4s to 4s 3d; butter, B|d; cheese, s£d.
