The monthly meeting of the School Committee took place on Monday evening last.- Present —Messrs. W. Barnett (ohairman), J. Recce, Condon, Leonarde, H. Barnett, and Aldridge. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. A letter was read from the Board o£ Education with copy of report of school examination conducted by Mr. Restall in November last, which was as follows:— Number on the roll 51, present 36, averages last quarter 36, last week 38. Class list, 3rd standard, 4 scholars ; 2nd do., 11 ; 15td0.,6 0.15; total 36. The Committee considered the report unsatisfactorily. The Chairman stated that according to instructions he had forwarded to the Board of Education a list of necessary expenditure for the year, amounting to £35, viz., refund to Library Committee for room, £25; garden fence, £5; gate master's house, £5 ; extra incidental expenses for school, £19 10s. ' The Committee, after due consideration of the difficulty experienced in, providing

suitable accommiMationr for the school mistress, were unanimaftly of opinion that it would benefit the school if a married master could be obtained. It was agreed that the Chairman take,* steps to obtain a suitable master, and that he be instructed to inform Mr. Thompson of the resolution the Com;nittee had arrived at.
