Buyers' quotations are—Wheat and barley nominal, oats, 2s; rye grass, 3s 6d to 3s 9d ; butter, 8d to ; cheese, s£d ; •hams and bacon, 9£d.

Messrs. H. Matson and Co. report on the live stock market for the week ending Friday, December 5, 1877, as follows : — 134 head of cattle and 6167 sheep were penned off at Addington for the week's supply. Biddings came briskly for all classes of fat stock and store cattle, but there was an absence of competition for store sheep. The lines offered were not of the best description, being ill-bred crossbreds and merino ewes and wethers. The demand is good for all classes of superior bred stores. Our entry for the day comprised 52 head of cattle and 4017 sheep. Cattle sold well; the quality was exceptionally good, a line of heifers from the Messrs. Hay's being- very choice, and realised £10 17s 6d per head. In sheep, we sold fat at.. 9s, 9s 6d, to 10s 6d per head ; stores at various prices, and turned out a fine of merino wethers at 4s 6d, and a line of merino ewes at 3s 3d, unsold. Outside Aye have sold several small lines of sheep at current rates. Wool, sheepskins, hides, tallow, &c.—At our usual weekly auction a fair supply came to hand. Best butchers' merinos made to 5s 6d ; cross-breds to 6s 6d each ; best pelts to la 3d ; second, 8d to I.od each ; lambs' from Is 6d to Is lOd and 2s to 2s 6d each. Country skins realised well. Salted hides 34d per lb ; calf-skins, 6d per lb ; rough fat, 24dperlb.

Mr. Robert Wilkin reports:—Wool.— There have been no local sales since my last report. Sheepshins—My catalogue comprised 758 full-wools, 1223 pelts, and 559 lambskins, which were eagerly competed for, with the exception of the pelts, the bidding for which was rather languid. This can be accounted for by the supply of f ull-woolled skins and fleece wool, these requiring much less labour in proportion to their value, and most of the large fellmongering firms at present are confining their operations to this class of goods. Full-woolled skins show an improvement on last week's values of from 4d to 8d each. Lambskins remain the same, and pelts are Id to 3d lower. Butchers' crossbred, large, full-woolled, green, none; medium do, 5s to" 5s 6d each ; small do, 3s 7d to 4s 9d each. Butchers' merinos, large, full-woolied,green, os to 5s 6d each; small to medium-sized do, 3s 7d to 4s 9d each. Dry country cross-bred, large, fullwoolled, 5s lid to 6s 2d each ; small to medinm-sized do and inferior, 2s 9d to 4a 7d each.- Cross-bred hoggets, 9d to 2s 2d each. Dry country merinos, large, f ullwoolled, 5s Id to ss. 8d each; small to medium-sized and inferior do, 3s Id to 4s 9d each. Butchers' pelts, 3d to Is 3d each ; do lambskins, Is 2d to 2s 9d each. Hides show signs of a slight recovery. Salted were sold at 3£d per lb green,. 2fd per lb. Calfskins, s|d per' lb ; cert do,' 2-$ d per lb. Pigskins, 2s each. Tallow, butchers' rough fat—79 sacks were submitted and sold at to 2f per lb for sound, and to lfd per lb for heated.
