Why is a leaky barrel like a coward ? Because it runs. At the time of the blue laws there was a town in England where a shoemaker was condemned to be hanged, but on the day of execution, the authorities discovered that he was the only shoemaker in town, so they hung a weaver instead, because they had more weavers than they wanted. A Cockney youth standing at the corner fo St. James’ Park one sultry summer afternoon saw passing a gentleman whose pantaloons had silver stripes down the legs, when he exclaimed, “ Oh, look at that ere covey, I’m blow’d if that chap’s silver has'nt been melting in his trouser-pockets and has run down his legs, Oh, Golly !” It is said of an inveterate gambler, that after having lost all his property, he one night lost his way home. Why is the letter A like the meridian ? Because it’s in the middle of day.
