The river has been moving downwards during the last week. lost evening the height was ju&t under the Bft mark, The Coronation Oo.'s dredge has been disposed of to a Dunedin syndic cate. It is rumoured that the purchasers propose to work a claim in the neighbourhood of where the dredge is now lying. The Ngapara No. 11, at the Nevis, is reported to have obtained 360z last week. The River Molyneux diedge is safely anchored just below French* men's Point, Mr Hoy and his orew having brought her up the river to that point in safety. Mr Wm. Gibson, of the Rising Sun dredge, has been appointed master of the Punt Freehold Co.'s dredge, on the Clutha, and Mr Colin M'Donald, engineer. The Moa, Molyneux Hydraulic, and Alexaddra Lead dredges are working steadily. At the annual meeting of shareholders in the Sailor's Bend Company„ held on 2nd inst. (Captain Sundstrum presiding), it was stated that last year the directors had drawn no fees. The dredge is said to be in good order, and the only expense anticipated before next season starts is (outside of office expenses) the caretaker's wages. It was also stated that at the bottom end of the claim only six or eight chains had been worked, and seventy chains or so of ground are said to be tinworked. Messrs Thorp and Sands* trom (the retiring directors) were re-* elected, and Messrs Barr, Leary, an«s Co. were reappointed auditors.
