_.. (By.« Old Sport.") k Owners are finally reminded in this issue that nominations for the Alexandra Handicap, Flying Handicap, Two and One and a-half mile Trots close with the secretary on Saturday evening next. ■■ I hear that Jack Gray has left Mr J. R. Smith, and is now open for engagement. Tom Beckjias "Vincent looking in the pink of condition. - IlOon '"■ "White's-"-Imaginary-has—gone amiss, and, in consequence, has been scratched for the Matakanui Handicap. Georgia M. competed at the Christ* church Trotting Meeting, but brok her bobbles in the first race she started in. In her second venture she declined to leave the mark, and took no part in the race. Discoverer was the only Otago owned horse to sneure a win at the Metropolitan Trotting meeting. H. Mountney has under training the following string of trotters:— Whisper, Boojum, a Wildwood filly, and a sister to Mamoe by Lauderdale. Herb has taken Whisper to Dunedin to take part in the Tahuna Park meeting, which commences on Saturday, J. Perriam has Lieutenant J. in training. I hear he is in J. M'Ginnis' charge.
Jack Richardson has Little Bessie and Miss Norah in steady work, and both are looking extremely well. The acceptances for the Matakanui Handicap and New Year Trot at the Y.J.C. meeting are out f and must be very gratifying to the club, as, well, as to the sporting public, only one in each race hating dropped out. I' hope v 'to see the majority of those left in face the starter.
