The Weather.
The heaviest fall of snow experienced in Alexandra for a great number of years occurred on Sunday last—the " oldest inhabitant" forgetting whether or not the fall constitutes a record. Anyway, the townspeople awoke on Monday morning to find the surrounding landscape covered by snow to a depth of six inches; and during the day a small army of the rising genera* tion occupied the main thoroughfares of the town, indulging in the fascinating pastime of " snowballing." The snowfall appears to have been general throughout Central Otago, and road traffic has been thereby somewhat impeded. Notwithstanding the difficulties that had to be surmounted, however, it may be mentioned that the mail coach has arrived nightly with commendable punctuality. At the time of g< ing to press the weather was still unsettled.
