MINING NEWS.
The height of the river last evening was 4ft above the “ normal M mark, with a downward tendency. The return from the Molyneux Hydraulic last week showed a slight r improvement on the returns recently obtained, and indicates that the dredge is getting on to better wash. The dredge is working steadily. | Mr T. Seen, who has lately been dredgemaster of the Rise and Shine I No. 2 dredge left last week to fill a j similar position in West Africa. Previous to leaving Cromwell, Mr Keen was met by a number of friends and was made the recipient of a dressingcase and a case of pipes. The Moa dredge was stopped from Friday till midday on Tuesday, owing to the shifting of the top tumbler. The Undaunted Gold-mining Company (Matakanui) has declared a dividend of 6s per share. The Sandy Point Dredging Company has declared a dividend of Is per share. The Enterprise Dredging Company has declared a dividend (the 69th) of 2s per shore. The Sailors Bend dredge resumed work on Monday morning last, but finds the drift to be very heavy. The Bendigo dredge resumed work at midnight on Sunday. The Manuherikia, Moa’ and Alexandra Lead dredges are working steadily. There is some talk of forming a syndicate locally to exploit reefs that aae known to exist in the neighbourhood of Alexandra,
