FOOTBALL CRITICISM.
TO THB EDITOR. Sir.—The correspondent “ DropKick” to the ‘ Dunstan Times* in describing the football match Cromwell v. Alexandra makes |ome remarks which are open to criticism. In the first place, the writer States that the galme was not an interesting one from a spectators, point of view. It may not have been an interesting game to the ‘ Times ’ correspondent, but it certainly was interesting to a large num-. ber on the ground. Perhaps the correspondent h'ad a little money on Cromwell, in which case bis interest would fizzle out by the call of “ halftime.” This point, however, i* open to discussion, but the writer goes on to say that the exhibition of football was a poor one, and he at once shows bis ignorance of the game. During the last ten years or so, I have seen the best games played in Dunedin, and I Dave no hesitation in saying that taking the players as a whole, the game on Saturday week showed th*t in scrum, loose, and line play the footballers of Central Otago are not far. behind the players in the centres. Perhaps “Drop-kick’s” knowledge of football is on a par with hia knowledge of the King’s English.—Yours etc,,
