HOW JUDGES ABE PAID, The salary of as ordinary juciee oE the High Court of Judicature is ,£SOOO pec annum. He does not work all the year round, however. Of the 366 dap, about 114 are inoluded in the various vacations. Of the 251 days that remain, one seventh will be Sundays. This leaves 216 days, from which we may further deduct a number of public holidays, varying according to the date at which Easter falls. Let us say that thene will be 218 working days altogether. The courts sit from tea till four, with about an hoar's interval for lunch. On Saturdays they sit as a rule bom ten to one. A simple arithmetical computation shows that on an average a judge's yeajr'e work consists of 900 Lours.
